The Basics There are three main factions central to the series:

Assassins (Hidden Ones): The Protagonist

Isu: A precursor race that created powerful artifacts in order to avoid the coming cataclysm.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: The story follows Kassandra (or Alexios), a descendant of Leonidas, as she searches for the Staff of Hermes, an Isu artifact that grants immortality. Her journey pits her against cultists and mythological creatures while uncovering her true identity. In the present day, Layla Hassan, an ex-Abstergo agent, explores Kassandra’s memories and ultimately retrieves the staff, meeting an immortal Kassandra.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Layla’s journey leads her to Eivor, a Viking on a revenge quest. Eivor allies with the Hidden Ones, Basim and Hytham, to fight the Order of the Ancients. Along the way, Eivor experiences visions hinting she, Basim, and others are reincarnations of Isu gods like Odin and Loki. Basim’s betrayal results in him escaping imprisonment in the modern day, setting him up as the new protagonist.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: A prequel to Valhalla, Mirage focuses on Basim’s early life as a street thief in Baghdad. Trained by the Hidden Ones, Basim hunts Templar leaders while discovering his connection to the Isu Loki. By the end, Basim fuses with suppressed memories of Loki, setting the stage for his revenge in Valhalla.
